Easily absorbed form of Acetyl-L-carnitine
Healthwell Acetyl-L-carnitine is a vegetable supplement with the amino acid Acetyl-L-carnitine, which is an acetylated by the amino acid carnitine. Acetyl L-carnitine has the ability to easily cross the blood-brain barrier, making the substance interesting when it comes to brain aging. Healthwell Acetyl-L-carnitine contains 500 mg ALC per capsule.

How does Acetyl-L-carnitine work?
Acetyl-1-Carnitine is an acetylated form of the amino acid L-carnitine. This amino acid is produced naturally in the body in the brain, liver and kidneys. Unlike L-carnitine, Acetyl-L-carnitine has the ability to easily cross the blood-brain barrier and get all the way into the mitochondria of brain cells, which also makes the substance interesting when it comes to brain aging. The more we age, the more the levels of ALC in the body fall. Studies have examined the role of ALC in cognitive ability and it has been shown to play a major role (1). The use of ALC has been shown to provide health benefits in neuroinflammation, which is a common denominator in a variety of neurodegenerative diseases. ALC also improves the transport of residual products from the cells and prevents them from being stored and becoming toxic. It also acts as an antioxidant that protects our cells from oxidative stress.
ALC plays a role in the body's fat-burning process, by contributing to the transport of fatty acids from the diet to the cells' mitochondria to be converted into energy.
Dosage of Acetyl-L-carnitine
