What does calcium do in the body?
Calcium is an important mineral, 90% of which is found in our bones and teeth. The skeleton is a bank of calcium and needs calcium in order to be optimally maintained. When we are kids, we need calcium to build our bones, and already at the age of 35, the degradation of the bone structure begins.
Calcium also contributes to normal muscle and nerve function. Calcium is involved in the muscles’ ability to contract and acts as an antagonist for the mineral magnesium.
