What is lion's mane?
Lion's mane is a large white fungus with long spines that makes it resemble a lion’s mane when it grows, hence the name. It is a woody thorn fungus that is found in many parts of the world. However, it is fairly rare in our part of the world, and is one of our protected mushrooms that can only be cultivated. In Asia, the fungus is very popular and has a long tradition of use both as a medicinal fungus and edible fungus. It is used both fresh and dried in cooking, teas and extracts.
Thanks to its rich content of antioxidants, the fungus is used, among other things, for the function of the immune system. Its popularity is also due to the fact that it belongs to the group nootropics, which are substances that are considered to have the ability to affect our mood in some way. Lion’s mane is considered to provide power, energy and focus. The fungus contains nutrients that are believed to be able to affect our cognitive ability and contribute to better concentration and memory, and is therefore popular to use for demanding tasks at work or school. Lion's mane has appeared in many interesting studies, but there is still too little research to be able to draw any conclusions.
Optimal amount of active substances
