vitamins B6, B12 and folate in methylated form
Healthwell Methyl B6, B12, Folate is a methylated complex with the B vitamins B6, B12 and folate. The methylated form makes it easier for the body to make use of the vitamins in the supplement. Pre-methylated forms are particularly beneficial for people with an impaired function of the methylation process, i.e. the process that converts vitamins into active forms that the body can use. Vitamin B6 and vitamin B12 are essential for nerve function. In addition, vitamin B12 is also needed to form blood cells. Folate, also called folic acid, is in turn essential for the formation of red blood cells and new cells. When you’re pregnant, folate is extra important as cell formation increases.

Methylated for better absorption
In the body, we have what is known as a methylation process, where the vitamins we ingest us are converted into active forms that the body can use. For some, the process doesn’t work as it should, which leads to them having difficulty absorbing certain vitamins, mainly vitamin B6, vitamin B12 and folate. An increased dose is not enough. In order to be able to absorb them in an optimal way and enjoy all their benefits, methylated forms are needed, which means that the vitamins are already active and can be absorbed by the body.
The supplement also contains vitamin B2, which is needed for the other vitamins to be absorbed. It also contains the amino acid betaine (trimethylglycine) which helps promote the body's own methylation process.
About B2, B6, B12, Folic acid
The vitamins you can find in Healthwell Methyl B6, B12, Folate are all important for your body to feel good. Because they are water-soluble, they cannot be stored in the body, which means that you have to replenish them regularly through your diet. Vitamin B6 and vitamin B12 contribute, among other things, to nerve function. Vitamin B6 is also important for protein metabolism, while vitamin B12 contributes to the formation of blood cells and the cells' metabolism. Vitamin B12 is found mainly in animal products and can therefore be difficult for vegans to get enough of through the diet. Older people may also need to ingest extra vitamin B12, as the uptake of the vitamin decreases with age. Folate, also called folic acid, is needed in order to form new red blood cells and cells. When cell formation increases, folate supplementation can be even more important, for example while you are growing or pregnant.
In this supplement, vitamin B2 enables the methylation of the other B vitamins, i.e. the process by which they are converted into active forms that the body can use. Vitamin B2 is also important for breaking down fats, carbohydrates and protein.
