Product description

Organic and RAW rosehip powder

Healthwell Rosehip Powder ECO is an organic and fine-grained rosehip powder of a high quality. Rosehips have long been noted for their impressive nutritional content. In addition to the fact that the berries contain a large proportion of vitamin C, they are naturally rich in minerals. In recent years, rosehip has become popular in products that help maintain joint mobility. Our powder is made from organic rosehip shell, which is the most nutritious part of the rosehip. Try sprinkling the naturally sweet rosehip powder over your morning porridge or mix into a smoothie for a nutritional boost!

Nutritious content

The rosehip has long been known for its nutritious properties, and is perhaps best known for being very rich in vitamin C. Vitamin C is an antioxidant that protects cells from free radicals and contributes to a normally functioning immune system. In addition to vitamin C, rosehip powder contains minerals such as iron, calcium, potassium, magnesium and folic acid. The colour of the rosehip can vary from dark red to orange, and the bold colour comes from the substance beta-carotene, which is a precursor to vitamin A. Beta-carotene is stored under the skin, where it can possibly contribute to pigmentation.

The rosehip in Healthwell's ECO Rosehip Powder is carefully picked and ground through cold processes in accordance with the raw food technique in order to preserve as much of the nutritional value as possible. This means that the powder has not been processed or has not been heated to more than 47 degrees. The finished rosehip powder consists of 98% rosehip shells, as it’s in the shells that most of the active substances are. The rosehips in Healthwell's rosehip powder come from Europe, where they grow wild in the Carpathian Mountains of Central and Eastern Europe.

For a life in motion

Rosehip supplements have long been used in horses to maintain mobility in their joints. Rosehip contains an active substance called gopo, which is a galactolipid that has become increasingly common in recent years in studies related to joint health (1). However, more studies are still needed to determine whether and if so why rosehips actually help with joint problems in humans.

How much rosehip powder should you take per day?

The recommended dosage is 2.5-5 grams daily. The rosehip powder can either be mixed into a glass of water or mixed into food or another type of drink.

Side effects of rosehip powder

If you follow the recommended dose of rosehip powder, there are no known side effects. Rosehip powder can, however, have a laxative effect so lower the dose if necessary. Adapt based on what works best for you.

What does it mean when we say the product is EU-organic?

In organic food production, biodiversity, the conservation of natural resources, environmental practices and strict animal welfare are observed (1). In order for a product to be labeled as EU-organic, the label used within the EU, a product must meet strict conditions that apply to the entire production chain. The product must contain at least 95% organic ingredients, and the other 5% must meet additional strict conditions (2).

In organic crop production, it is important to promote soil fertility and to allow for perennial crop rotation and a cycle of organic material. Therefore, fertilizers, compost and plant protection products should only be used if they comply with the principles and objectives of organic production. In general, the EU requires that an organic food must be produced without synthetically produced chemical pesticides and without artificial fertilizers. In organic production, genetic engineering is also prohibited. In addition, production should primarily rely on renewable resources (2).
