Vitamins in blueberries
Thanks to the natural content of Super Blueberry Extract, you also get the vitamins and other healthy substances found in the blueberry. Among other things, blueberries contain a lot of beta carotene, a type of carotenoid that the body can convert into vitamin A as needed. Vitamin A is stored in the liver and used, among other things, to maintain normal function of all mucous membranes. However, vitamin A, and thus the blueberry, has primarily become known for promoting normal eyesight. The reason why the blueberry is so popular is that is also contains anthocyanins, a substance that seems to help protect vitamin A in the eye from being broken down. More research on the topic is needed, however, to ensure that this is the case, but blueberries and blueberry extract are undeniably a popular supplement for the eyes. The extracts in Healthwell Super Blueberry Extract are standardised to at least 25% anthocyanins to provide a complete complement to your diet. In addition to beta carotene, blueberries contain vitamin K, which is needed for normal blood coagulation, as well as a small amount of the minerals iron and potassium. Also found in blueberries is vitamin C with all its antioxidants.
Are blueberries healthy?
The blueberry is a real super berry, containing many substances that are good for us! 100 grams of blueberries contain just over 8 mg of vitamin C, which acts as an antioxidant in the body. The function of antioxidants is to counteract cell degradation caused by free radicals, a process that is partly a natural part of life, but which can also be unwanted. Another area of use of blueberries is to eat them during various types of stomach or intestinal problems, since blueberries in different forms can have a constipation or laxative effect.
