What does vitamin D do?
Vitamin D is a popular vitamin that we get via the sun's rays, and which can therefore be difficult to get enough of for most of the year. That’s why it is extra important to use a supplement during the winter. Vitamin D has many important functions in the body, it contributes to a normal immune system and to the maintenance of a normal bone structure and teeth. It also contributes to the normal functioning of our cells and our nervous system as well as to regulating the calcium levels in the blood, meaning it also plays an important role in skeletal formation.

Can you get vitamin D through food?
Vitamin D is found in oily fish, including salmon, mackerel and herring. Meat and eggs are also foods that contain some vitamin D. Some dairy products may also be fortified with vitamin D.
Can you get side effects from vitamin D?
When vitamin D is stored in our body, extreme amounts can be counterproductive and lead to too much calcium in the blood. But if you take it according to the recommendations there is no risk of this, as it’s very difficult to get too much of naturally. Just remember not to combine several different supplements of vitamin D at the same time.
